THE 7 LAYERS OF FIRE SAFETY IN BUILDINGS

01: Prevention:

First, all necessary measures should be taken to prevent a fire from occurring.

02: Detection:

If a fire does occur, it must be detected as soon as possible because the fire grows exponentially, contrary to popular perception among the general public.

03: Early suppression:

The fire extinguishing or suppression equipment, either manual or automatic, should be available and functional.

04: Evacuation:

If the fire could not be extinguished immediately, the priority is to evacuate building occupants to a safe place.

05: Compartmentation:

Fire compartmentation of a building ensures that fire and smoke do not spread to other rooms and are contained in the room of origin.

06: Structural stability:

If the fire does grow large, structural stability must remain and the building should not collapse on the occupants or the firefighters for a sufficiently long period of time.

07: Firefighting:

It must be made clear that firefighting is the last and latest safety measure, even though extremely important.
